IMT was founded in 1961, initially revamping tire re-capping molds. Through a series of innovations, IMT offered a self-contained tire service truck by 1965. IMT continued introducing new innovations, including a full line of hydraulic truck-mounted cranes, lubrication, and mechanic trucks.
By the end of the 1980’s IMT equipment was utilized in more than 70 countries globally. With additional product offerings in the 1990’s and the acquisition of Stedt Hydraulic Co. in 2001, IMT continued to expand its product offerings of high quality, customer focused products.
In August, 2006 IMT became a wholly owned subsidiary of Oshkosh Corporation, a leading manufacturer of specialty trucks and truck bodies. Citing IMT’s leadership position in technology and brand recognition within the service vehicle and truck-mounted crane markets.

Our products can be found worldwide supporting various markets like construction, mining, tire service, railroad, propane, and utilities. The products we produce are used to primarily support field service work and material handling. The IMT Dominator® mechanics packages, with a telescopic crane, and SiteStar® lubrication packages are intended to due routine service and repair on various types and sizes of large equipment like wheel loaders, bulldozers, excavators and scrapers on the job site. By utilizing these IMT products the equipment being serviced can get back to work more quickly and efficiently than transporting them to a maintenance facility. The IMT Predator® and Commander® tire service body packages, along with IMT crane and carrier mounted TirehHand® products, can be found changing tires on the same types of equipment throughout the world. Whether it is an agricultural tire on a tractor or a tire on a large mining haul truck these products reduce the amount of time and effort it takes to change a tire. The IMT lines of articulating cranes and truck mounted loaders are used for the handling of large objects or palletized materials. The cranes are well suited for handling something as small as a pallet of shingles to large components of most mining machines. The loader’s primary use is for the delivery of wallboard, sheetrock, to construction sites to efficiently place within the building structure. |

IMT has won the “Construction Equipment Top 100 Products” award various times for our innovative new products that we develop to support the markets we are leaders in. IMT is also an active, certified MVP member of the National Truck Equipment Association.

IMT is located in Garner, IA, which is the county seat for Hancock county, and is in north central Iowa about 45 miles south of the Minnesota border. Although small, Garner is growing with a new aquatic center, recreational renter and movie theater. Additionally, Garner is located 10 minutes west Clear Lake, IA which is named for the large lake that is centered in the town. Clear Lake is home to a number of various attractions that include many town parks, the iconic Surf Ballroom, and is a major stop on interstate highway 35, almost perfectly centered between Minneapolis, MN and Des Moines, IA.
Training Opportunities:
- Partnership with North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC) to provide training opportunities for team members. Opportunities may be on or off-site depending on the content and scope of the courses.
- Tuition Assistance program is offered for team members. Up to $10,000 per calendar year is available for team members to attain education that will support growth and development in their current role, or future roles within the Organization.
- Individual training opportunities are available and are based on the annual goal setting and performance review process, which encourages and documents professional and personal development objectives.
